This is how the vinegrower-winemakers of Chiroubles saw the person who would represent their village.
This was the idea behind the creation of the 100% féminine Confrérie les Damoiselles de Chiroubles, in 1996. Today, around 15 women vinegrower-winemakers are Cru Chiroubles ambassadors. Through this, they contribute to the national and international reach of the wines crafted on the slopes of Chiroubles.
Les Damoiselles are committed to spreading the word about and giving people a taste for Chiroubles wine, as well as promoting their commune. This is why the village’s shield is their emblem: chief azure three suns or grapes argent on gules.
Confrérie des Damoiselles de Chiroubles keeps the region’s and the Cru’s epicurean traditions alive, especially at festivities and wine fairs.
The Confrérie holds an annual Grand Chapter as well as extraordinary Chapters, during which new Cru ambassadors are inducted. Since 1996, over 300 people have been inducted and are now defeders of Chiroubles’ heritage.
The Confrérie Chapter is solemn and public gathering that is a bond for lovers of the Cru and where inductions may be held.
Applications for induction should be made through a village vinegrower-winemaker or known lover of our wine and village.

The aim of this union is to create close links between the vineyard and the City of Lyon. The term ‘marriage’ was used to formalise this relationship. Within the framework of this marriage between the Crus and the different arrondissements or districts of Lyon, a number of events are held throughout the year to promote the Beaujolais region.
The story between Cru Chiroubles and the 3rd arrondissement of Lyon started several years ago. We were introduced, we liked each other… We got engaged, then married in 2010.
To continue the adventure between Cru Chiroubles and Lyon 3rd, pruning the vines on Square Rebatel, has become a red letter day in the relationship. Yes, the 3rd arrondissement has its own Chiroubles vines that were planted in 2013 when Square Rebatel was refurbished.
Chiroublons (inhabitants of Chiroubles) come to look after the vines and make sure they’re growing well every year.
